Hadrian's Wall Poems by 4WR

The good looking silver and red armour,

The golden dust of cracked rocks,

Why did I stay?

The brown bumpy leather of sandals,

The banging of silver metal armour,

Why did I stay?

Bailey and Bettie

Sweat cautiously dripping down my head,

Why am I here?

The cold armour pressing against my body,

The silk blue sky of Scotland,

The wind whistling through the gaps in the stone wall,

Why am I here?

Charlie and Joshua

In the distance my eyes froze on a tall, sharp mountain,

As I stood on the wall, there was the sound of footsteps approaching me,

As I held my shield, my hands started slipping off the handle,

The salty stones from Hadrian’s Wall tingled up my nose,

Why am I standing here?

Lauren and Meja

The cold stone bricks scratching my fingertips,

Shields flashing in the moonlight,

It’s not so bad!

The fresh night air drifting up my nose,

Ravens crying in the distance,

It’s not so bad!

Zak L and Marley S

Cold green grass,

Freezing cold shields,

Armour clanging together,

Sweat dripping down faces,

Why am I here?

Marley N and Barney

Sweaty bodies hard at work,

Leathery shields protecting me,

Fiery scarlet uniforms all around,

Clanking armour on Roman chests,

Why am I here?

Alex and Harrison
