Jaguar Trials, Sapphire Streak by Poppy, 6JH

The Trial Of The Sapphire Streak

The wind howled. The trees shivered in the bitterly cold weather. All the flowers collapsed, unable to stay upright. The clouds blocked the sunlight from breaking through. The wind made the waterfall move backwards and forwards, making it thunder dramatically against the pool of deep blue water below. The trees were being uprooted and one of them almost came crashing down . Fortunately, it was able to keep its balance.

Raphael decided that they all should sit down and wait for the storm to pass when suddenly, they heard a cracking noise. “It sounds like the cavern is going to collapse soon.” warned Yara, but they, obviously, couldn’t go outside because it could be dangerous. They huddled together to get warmer and not to get wet by the miserable rain.

Ben spotted a twinkle in the pool of water below them so he decided to go and investigate. “Yara, Raphael, I have seen a little twinkle in the water. Wait there. I am going to venture; it might be a clue.” He said Bravely as he nervously walked over to the opening. The water was calling him, so he dived in. A little piece of gold was stuck to the top of another cavern. There were stairs leading further down. He decided to go back up, take a big breath and call the others so they can explore together.

They entered the cavern and started tiptoeing down the stairs. The water had stopped so they could now breathe. When they were at the bottom of the cave, they heard a bang.“I...I...I...think the...d...d...d...doorway has closed.” stuttered Raphael. It was all dirty and mossy and ancient and loads of torches were strapped to the wall. Yara picked up the torch closest to her and suddenly, a wall opened up revealing something amazing. Something you have never seen before or even dreamed of seeing.

A great, big, pink crystal was sat on a stand brightening up the whole room. Ben grabbed it.The cavern started shaking. It was crumbling to pieces. “RUN!” shouted Yara, they ran for the other side of the cave. Water was bursting through. Streams of water were running down the stairs, catching up with them. They ran this way, that way until they came to a dead end…

“Lets search the walls for any buttons or something to push it open .” Rafael suggested. Yara found a glint of light through a crack and she told the others to pull it. They pulled with all their might and a rock comes tumbling down and it hits the ground. They could now feel the water running around their feet. “On the count of 3, pull...1...2...3...PULL!” Ben shouted as they heaved. Finally the wall came crashing down. Ben’s wound hurt a lot by then so they really needed to get some rest. At least they were free! The sun was setting and the sky was pink so they made up camp for the night in the jungle, underneath a tree.

“Ben...Ben,” Ben could hear someone whispering to him. Was it a dream? Then he had a sudden flashback, “The crystal… it’s...GONE!”...

Space Diary by Patrick, 5JB

I had an incredible day on Mars! We woke up to find we were on Mars! As my two companions Commanders Log and Sid were snoring away happily, I tiptoed down to the aisle. Sure exhilaration filled my body as I sat down to eat my cookie sandwich. Soon after, I was waving my hands in the air saying, "wake up!" With that, I put on the heavy, lumpy suit. Excitedly, I shot out the door! A huge rock was standing next to the scorched, forlorn, mouldy, old rocket. I stepped out on to the hot, red rock. Slowly, I bent down and touched the warm glow of rock. As my two companions trailed behind me, I stopped and stared. My mouth dropped open as wide as a elephant! Slowly I trembled over... to a mud house!

My attention was taken when Commander Sid fainted! Log said he would go back, so I started to trek though the wavering dust. I should have gone back but a gooey, green and sloppy thing with one eye came squelching before me. I sprinted as fast as I could in my space suit. A dust of misty mess trailing behind. Soon enough I got back. I slammed open the hard, metal, ice-cold door and my legs pushed me in. "What was that?" I said under my breath. "I'll find out tomorrow." I sat down on the hard seat and breathed a sigh of relief as I chewed through a nice sandwich made of chilli peppers which blew my mouth out.  Just then, NASA announced we had found life - Well Done!

Slowly but carefully, I crept into bed and fell sound asleep.

Spooky Story by Lily, 5JB

One thundery night, Jake, who was very courageous, crept slowly through the damp, mysterious woods. Meanwhile, he found an abandoned cottage which had brown leaves and broken branches falling into the chimney. Pointy, sharp thorns were surrounding the old cottage. Tip-toeing towards the house, he faltered when he heard a loud noise. He panicked. Soon he got to the cottage and opened the creaky, black door. ''Hello is anybody there?" said Jake frightened.

Without closing the door, he headed towards the main living room and looked around. In the corner of his eye, there was a shimmering, shiny piece of gold on a dusty, dirty book on a mantelpiece.  "There's a warning on it: Strange things will happen to you in the house. Open if you dare! I don't think that's true! What's on the back? This will happen if you open it alone," murmured Jake.  Jake looked around and heard absolute silence.   He could only hear the broken branches breaking from outside.  Seconds later, he opened the book.  "This is just an old book! Nothing is going to happen!" shouted Jake.

Suddenly the creaky, un-oiled doors slammed as fast as a speedy panther.  He crept towards the wooden door and opened it tentatively.  "I need to get out of here," muttered Jake loudly.  He heard a noise . You cant get out! Jake was frightened . There was a revolting smell coming from from the kitchen and the mysterious voice came again. You are haunted Jake! " How did you know my name replied Jake. Jake saw the shinning, golden, shimmering book glowing. He walked towards the book and close it. Soon, he found a hammer next to a box. Jake grabbed the hammer. The stomping was still very loud but, he managed to smash the window open as fast as light. He jumped out and he was free! " I'm never going there again!" screamed Jake.

Spooky Story by Joe, 5JB

One cold, miserable evening, two boys named Max, who was very courageous, and Lewis, who was very nervous, stumbled over the crooked path that led to an abandoned cottage without realising it, after being waterlogged by a rain cloud that soaked them head to toe.
"I wonder where this weird path leads to," giggled Max, knowing that Lewis was afraid.
"I don't know, but I don't want to find out." Suddenly, Max walked straight into a disintegrating wall.
He then exclaimed, "Woah," after he picked himself up from the floor.  "Is that some sort of cottage?"

Then, out of nowhere, the door swung open with an ear-splitting creak. "I dare you to go in!" they both chanted at the same time.  So, even though it was surprising for Lewis, they both went in.
"What has happened here?!" Lewis yelled, looking at the bloody footprints on the wall and bones on the floor.  Max didn't hear because he was studying the strange book on the mantlepiece.  He went to pick it up.
"Weird. It's called..." he muttered to himself. "If you open this thing the billers will sing and if you come in a scream team you will soon hear a scream."

"Don't open it," Lewis said.
"Don't worry.  It's all pish posh," he said but before he opened it, he noticed the mesmerising colour of the book: purple with gold stripes.  Pretty, he thought, as he opened it.
"Awww, it's blank," he groaned, slamming it loudly shut.  A loud thud sounded suddenly behind him.  He spun around only to see a lifeless Lewis with bleeding ears lying on the floor, dead.  He wondered how a book slamming could kill someone.  It was then Max started hallucinating really bad.  So bad it was like he was dying.  Something warm and wet wrapped around his ankle like a tongue.  It fact...it was a tongue.  He went to the door, trying to pull the tongue off.  It was locked.  Suddenly, the tongue-like thing got hauled rapidly into a basement pulling a screaming Max with it.  A loud burp echoed around the village.

Fashion Through The Years by Libby, 5JB

In this report, I am focusing on how fashion has charged over three decades 1900s, 1900s and 1940s. I will be explaining the similarities and differences between the decades - there will also be conclusion.

Firstly, I would like to discuss the differences over the years. The first difference I would like to tell you about is the outfits and how they have changed over the years. In the 1900s they wore s-bend corset style tops with a pair of trousers. In the 1920s they wore barrel shaped outfits. And last but not least, in the 1900s they wore knee - high skirts, with boxy jackets.

Furthermore, another difference is the materials that the outfits were made out of. In the 1900s, the clothes they had were mostly made out of different types of fabric. In the 1920s, the clothes were made of curtains with patterns on from the windows. The reason for clothes being made from curtains from the window was because in the 1940s there was a war and this affected the money they had and also what materials they could buy.  Finally, the clothes in the 1940s were mostly made from cotton and fluffy fabrics.

On the other hand, exactly the same things have remained the same about fashion over the years.  One such similarity is the hats they wore.  All throughout the 1900s and the 1920s, they wore hats.  I think the reasons they were hats in those times were because they may have had to cover their heads back then and also they might have wanted to cover their heads from the sun in hot countries as well.

Additionally, fashion has also remained the same because we have always worn clothes that are made out of fabrics, cotton and fur, sometimes even wool.  Jackets were often worn.  I think this is because people liked to keep warm and also keep their shoulders covered.

In conclusion, I believe that there are many similarities and differences.  The most important of these are the differences because everyone has to be different and everyone has to wear different things.  It is also great to be different because no-one wants to be the same otherwise the world would be boring.

Scary Story Starter by Ellie, 3SB

On a dark, gloomy night, I couldn't get to sleep so I got out of the house, put my bright, yellow coat on and I walked out to the lake.  The lake was foggy and I couldn't see a thing.  Suddenly, from out of the distance, was a big staircase and a strange man.  The man looked freaky.  He was coming towards me.  I could hear lightning in the sky.  An electric shock tingled down my spine. My heart was going wild. As the staircase came closer and closer, the more worried I got about what was going to happen.  I ran towards the bushes to hide but it was no use, the man followed everywhere I went.

The Poshest Heroes by Libby, 6MS

Upstairs, in the bedroom of Chestnut Mansion, sat two sisters and their dog Biscuit. Biscuit was chewing on the rug whilst the girls (Hope and Katie) were building a den. The doorbell rang. Katie heard footsteps from downstairs and felt the rumble of the elevator beneath her feet. Their den slowly started to crumble to the ground into a heap of blankets.
“Oh no, not again!” Hope whined, picking up a pink pillow.
Katie giggled as she watched Hope fail to rebuild the den. DING! The elevator doors edged open.
“Katie!” a girl yelled as she stepped out of the elevator.
Katie recognised that voice anywhere. It was her best friend Kelsie.

Once Kelsie had eventually gone home, Biscuit started to whimper continuously. The little pug scurried over to the peg with the long, spotty lead dangling off the end of it. He stood up on his hind legs and started to create a few faint scratch marks. Katie scrambled to her feet and made her way over to Biscuit. Quickly, she snatched the lead off the peg, forcing it to tumble to the ground. She didn’t even notice that she’d pulled the peg down so she just wandered away. They started to make their way down the five flights of stairs.
“UGH, it would have been so much easier to take the elevator, Katie.” Hope moaned.
Katie just rolled her eyes and walked away.

They arrived at Chestnut Gardens at 3:30pm for Biscuit’s group dog training session. This place was for the wealthiest of the wealthiest who live on Chestnut Street. Luckily, their mum and dad were extremely successful actors and actresses. Even better they got special VIP access to the best (and poshest) parts of the gardens. Once they even met David Cameron!

In the middle of the session a woman approached them. She had long, black hair scrunched up in a messy bun. She was also wearing the most peculiar outfit. It was a piece of artwork gone wrong, green, yellow, and pink all splattered into one ridiculous all-in-one.
“I need to see you two.” she ordered, in a soft tone.
Although it was a (kind of) soft and sweet tone, they were scared that something would happen to them if they didn’t go, they instantly followed her.

Soon after, they arrived outside of a tall, blue building with tiny blacked out windows dotted around. On the front door there was a sign that read: ‘keep out, or else.’
“Or else what?” Katie asked, feeling a slight shiver down her spine.
The lady just ignored Katie’s question and pushed open the door. As they entered the building, a memory flashed into Hope’s mind. It was of when they first moved into their old house, it looked identical to the inside of this place. She blinked and shook her head. She ignored and jogged over to the others.

Suddenly, the ground began to shake and the ceiling started to crumble.
“EARTHQUAKE!” Kate yelled, hugging Biscuit tighter than ever before.
The chandelier swung and the lights flickered. It fell to the floor with a loud SMASH which echoed around the room. Hope was screaming and crying, she thought she was going to die.
“Quick, use these!” the anxious woman yelled in desperation.
She handed them a mirror, taser and ruler.
“Why do I need a ruler?” Hope asked.
At this point there was deadly roar of thunder. As Katie was trying to get out of the door, she slipped and fell onto her back. Hope put out her hand to help Katie up. CRASH! BOOM! BANG! Down came a clump of the ceiling.
“You must go, NOW!” the lady yelled, a tear trickling down her face.
The two sisters burst out of the double doors, equipment at the ready.

A lightning bolt pierced through one of the blacked out windows, causing it to set alight. Heaps of people were evacuating the building. Another lightning bolt struck and caught Katie’s hand.
“OUCH!” Katie yelped, sparks flying out of her hand.
She fell to the ground.
“Katie?” Hope asked, her eyes watering.

Katie closed her eyes. Was she dead? Would Hope ever see her sister’s loving eyes again? Was this the end of their sisterhood…?

Tomb-Raiders by Immy, 4JP

Cautiously, I unravelled the thick, grey rope.  As I did this, my heartbeat was rapid.  There was a little voice inside my head saying 'are you sure you want to do this?', but I did it.  I found an ancient, dusty cartouche and I just about worked out that it said 'Tutankhamen' in hieroglyphics, an ancient type of writing.  When I read this, I thought I might have made the greatest discovery in the world!  Suddenly, I though 'oh no - the curse' as a gust of wind rushed past me - it must be real!

As I slowly stepped through the historic, stone door, I saw a long, thin corridor which was dusty and empty.  The further I went down the corridor, the more disappointed I was.  Nothing, nothing at all.  Miserably and silently, I kept on walking down the corridor.  Until I stumbled across a door which had a warning saying "Keep Out"!  When I read this, I was quite tentative, but I dared.

When I opened the next door, I came to a room called the Antechamber.  In there, there was a copper, worn chariot and a golden throne with diamonds and crystals on it!

Discovering the Tomb by Jayden, 4JP

As I unravelled the old, rough rope, my hand shook.  Carefully, I opened the cold, grey, creaky, stone doors.  Slowly, I walked down the ancient, dusty corridor and there was another stone door.  I opened it...

I walked into the Antechamber and saw Tutankhamen's great throne and paintings of things he owned.  There was a statue of Tutankhamen and lots of valuable, golden objects.  As I walked further into the Antechamber, I saw a speedy chariot.

When I opened the next stone doorway, I walked into the Annex and saw wine bottles and lots of baskets full of food lying on the ground.  There was some gold lying on the ground.  I saw one boat and books in random places.

Multi-Sensory Cairo, 4WR

As I stepped off the dainty, blue feluka I gazed at the beautiful city in front of me. When I walked closer to the city the smell of smoke  got stronger and stronger. When I got to the middle of the city the sound of music filled my ears. I walked onwards then stopped and looked up-there above me were minarets sparkling in the sky like a bunch of fireflies dancing. Suddenly I heard a strange noise, I jumped and turned around, it was someone praying in Egyptian. It sounded like they were praying for food and animals. Then someone riding a donkey went past. He looked at me and stopped, he looked at me again, even closer, then left. I felt nervous and puzzled.
Eve

As I stepped off the small, cramped feluka I saw young and old people wearing long, swishy robes. As I walked I noticed old people smoking and playing games. Excited and curious, I was eager to look around, to see what was different from England. I heard people haggling loudly. I saw the houses were different from England, they were narrow instead of being wide. I could smell spicy food being cooked and it smelt good. As I walked, people brushed gently past me. I saw people selling musty carpets.
Zara

As I got off the tiny feluka, I gazed at the amazing buildings in the distance. I could hear the sound of beautiful music flowing through the narrow streets. As the people walked up the stairs, I could hear them talking and I didn’t understand them. The choking smoke from the shisha pipes all around me filled my nostrils and I felt sick. I felt scared, worried and anxious about being in this strange, beautiful city.
Charlie

As I carefully stepped off the small feluka, I saw a huge, colourful building ahead of me. I heard people shouting to pray in the mosque. When I was walking down the streets I saw men smoking  shisha pipes. I heard people speaking different languages, I was confused! I felt scared and excited at the same time as I touched the bumpy wall of the mosque. Suddenly, a noisy group of men brushed quickly past me and I wondered where they were going to in such a rush.

The Tree by Sammy, 3SB

A hollow tree stood directly in front of me.  There was a small opening at the back of the tree so I cleared away some thick ferns. Hesitantly, I clambered inside.  I started exploring cautiously.  I climbed on to a branch. I could feel damp as I clambered on to the middle.  The tree was gloomy. Sitting there on a tree, suddenly I realised how small I was compared to it.  I squeezed in through a dark, twisting, ante-tunnel and slid through the other side.  The ferns were covering the entrance like a den.  The small bird holes would be a perfect window.  It would be perfect for a look-out tower.  I went up to the top of the tree to see all the beautiful plants outside clinging to the leaves.  I wondered weather the aboriginal children played here 100 million years ago.  I went through the secret, rare tunnel and started exploring again.  I found a rather rare beetle.  It was black with yellow spots.  It was extraordinary.  Also, I spotted a spider with an unpleasant breath.  I went back up to the window.

Cairo Multi-Sensory Locational Writing by Tosca, 4JP

I saw busy, big shops absolutely everywhere.  I heard strange people talking happily in a different, mysterious language.  I could feel the extremely soft, snug horse fur.  Trying to breath, I walked through a mob of men smoking - it was like a dust storm!

As I walked, I also heard relaxing, Egyptian music.  I felt just like an Egyptian.  I also heard people shouting because the price was too much - it was as expensive as gold.

Suddenly, it got very, very hot.  I fainted.  I woke up when a man tipped a large bowl of water on my head.

Archaeology Journal by Ellie, 4JP

Dear Diary,

I am very nervous because Howard Carter has just invited me to Alexandria for his dig.  We are going to the Valley of the Kings!  It's a once in a lifetime experience.

I am excited but it could be scary.  You never know what's going to happen.  I am going to really miss my family! I wonder if I am going to get stuck in a sand storm!  That would be really scary.  If I did, would I ever get out...?

On the other hand, it could be fun, discovering things no one has ever seen before and famous Architecture! So exciting!

We might find tombs or kings like Tutankhamun. The sphinx? Canopic jars? Anything would be good!

I can't wait!

Journey To Cairo by Chloe, 4CP

When I got on the vast faluka, I suddenly heard the crashing of the waves and the furious wind was so strong that I thought the sail was about to break! Soon I was off!

The cool breeze was so nice, considering it was scorching hot. I was a little bit scared of the thought of the boat tipping over because the crocodiles were snapping their jaws furiously at the boat, while the men (wearing colourful dresses) were shooing them away.

The fishy smell was horrible. I was very excited to get to Cairo, even though it was very hot and busy. Soon I caught sight of a slight point in the land. Then it got bigger. I was a pyramid! We were almost there!

The River Is Poems by 4JP

Megan and Phoebe have typed up their The River Is.. poems for you to enjoy.

Phoebe:

The river is a spy,
It sneak’s around at night,
Like the waves  it jumps up high,
Then in the morning the water sees light.

The river is a Ninja,
It defeats you fast,
Something or anything,
If you get caught zoom past!

The river is a car,
Racing by it’s top speed,
It meanders in and out of corners,
It weaves with seaweed.

Megan:

The river is a snake
Slivering and wigling,
Moving and fast,
Big and noisey

The river is a shark
Fast and swishy,
Blue and evil,
Thin and sharp teeth

The river is a ninja
Deadly and it always wins
Black and quiet
It moves fast and sneaky

The Highwayman by Theo, 6JT

It was an unusually warm spring evening when a cart ,containing the love of his life, came rolling towards him. The robber was trotting towards the market in order to sell his recently obtained broach when Bess caught his eye .She was being burgled by a man nobody seemed to know. The highwayman yanked on the reins and galloped towards the mysterious man

By the time he got to the carriage the other robber had a bag full of riches but he soon dropped them when the Highwayman unslethed his rapier
“who are you?” asked Bess “ Another robber?”
“No” replied the Highwayman “Im William”
“Erm...i have lost my way” Bess continued “Could you show me back to the Golden Pint”
“Why of course”purred the Highwayman

The next hour was spent strolling towards the pub, when they got there The Highwayman dropped the question,
“Can i see you again”
“Tomorrow” answered Bess

The next 5 weeks were spent going to different pubs until Bess finally Bess asked
“What do you do for a living”
The HIghwayman didn't know what to say
“I work with money” he said causally
“specifically?” she said
“ I'm a Highwayman…” he murmured
WHAT” The noise made the whole inn stop talking
“You lied to me” she said as she stopped out

It had been 2 days since the highwayman had seen Bess and it had the two worst two days of his life of the highwayman's life. Filled with despair, he would wander aimlessly through the town

One day he wandered into the stable where he saw a man with mouldy hay-like hair and eyes they were hollows of madness. He was shoveling manure into a pot.

“What am i going to do?” squealed the Highwayman it appeared that Tim wasn't listening, but he hung on every word.
“I have got to find her”
As the highwayman raced out Tim started after him ; his trance was broken by a “Splat”

The Highwayman came riding round the bend and collided with Bess
What a coincidence.

The Highwayman got down on his knees and begged
“Please take me back my beloved”he wailed
A deathly silence...
“Meet me tomorrow” she replied

It was an unusually warm spring evening as a horse, carrying the love of Bess’s life came towards her.

Wizard in my Potting Shed by Ella, 5JB

“In some water you will seek, what I mean when I speak,” muttered the crazy man, adding no expression at all. The wizard captured a thought, dropped his quill and darted straight through a chart of the periodic table. A slight draft searched out every gap in my hair. I could hear a thud getting louder and closer, louder and closer, until it stopped. A warmer and stronger draft brushed my face. It happened again, this time it was heavier and royal blue flames shot out of what looked like colossal nostrils. Or were they?

Howard Carter Opening the Tomb by Jude, 4TC

As I slowly walked closer to my destination the big stone doors. As I did this my hands tingled with excitement and I felt the uneven rock-hard steps.

The more steps I took, the more curious I became, my whole body tingled anticipation, now I just felt absolutely outstanding! I drew closer and closer and closer my breath breathing heavier and heavier and heavier until I reached what I had been waiting for.

I put my hand against the carved hieroglyphics.hieroglyphics. Tentatively,I unraveled the rope that I expected would be my dream.

A soft stale air went up my nostrils, this was millions of years old! As well as the scent of stale air there was also odour of honey lovely lavender oil which had been on King Tut.

I heard the rats scuttle across the floor, the scuttled as quickly as a spider making a web. There in front of me was a golden sparkly chariot, which had once been his amazing way of traveling.Heaps of treasure was awaiting as if it was calling my name. Then there was the scarab beetle with the different stones and all of this had been made into one piece of jewellery! I carried on scanning this wonderful room of glittering gold.

Historical Speech by Harvey, 7DN

Harold Godwinson

I stand before you all, respected members of the Witan and honoured noblemen, as one of Harold Godwinson's many loyal knights to mourn the death of the great King Edward and to discuss the future of England and how Sir Harold could make it better. Being born and bred in England, I think we must all agree that he is the a better contender than all the rest. Do you want a foreign king to rule your country? Not one of the other challengers for the throne are English apart from Edwin, however he is far too young to rule our country.

The situation is that England needs a king, Edward sadly died three weeks ago bringing shock to you and I. Harold was promised the throne in King Edward’s dying wish, even I was there to witness it. A king’s dying wish replaces all other promises. Furthermore, they are both brothers in law and have always been great friends, almost like proper brothers. Harold is ready to serve our country, to serve our people, to serve our needs.

Harold's father, Godwin of Wessex, was the most powerful nobleman in England, meaning Harold comes from a very wealthy family. Because of this, he is now Duke of Wessex and has control of a huge army. A huge army that will be a the disposal of the English people.

The other “competitors” have many problems with their so called claims. William was sent to swear an oath of support to King Edward. Harald Hardrada's claim is very weak and uses violence to make his point. Do you want a king who kills innocent people? Edgar is just far too young and powerless to take the throne.

If you vote for Harold to rule this country, He will bring change to this country, He will bring better lives to everyone, He will bring a better future for you and your country. In everything he achieves, in every decision he makes, he will make sure it benefits you. We all know that England can be better and I assure you that Harold will make that happen!

Vesuvius Eruption by Serena, 3SB

Without warning, Tranio and Livia stepped outside onto the horrifying streets.  They could see plooming ash clouds in the dark sky and forks of lightening were scaring the people away.  Silhouettes of birds were in the sky.  People were clutching onto their loved ones. Pumice was violently raining on them.  They could smell danger.  Curious and worried, they went further into the dusty street.  Sea salt was racing into their mouths.  Tranio could hear Livia's heart beat.  It was pounding like made.  Vesuivius was angry and vicious.  They could hear yelling and the hustle and bustle.  Mothers were looking for their children.

Through the Mysterious, Magical Mirror by Sammy, 2FH

Year 2 have read Anthony Browne's book, Through the Magic Mirror and have created their own fantasy stories inspired by that tale. Read and comment on Sammy's below.

One winter's morning in March, a little girl called Lilly was getting up.  It was a day that she didn't like.  It was raining.  Slowly, Lilly walked down stairs.  Quickly, Lilly ate her breakfast.  Then she went upstairs again.  Lilly is a pretty girl with emerald eyes.  She wears a flowery dress.  Lilly was so excited about getting a new mirror.  Suddenly, her mum called, "The new mirror is being fitted."  Lilly came down the steps.

When she looked in the mirror, it looked strange because she did not see herself in the mirror.  She saw a leopard.  She went to touch it and then it sucked her in.  Slowly, she found herself in a land.  She realised she was in the Olympic stadium but not a normal one; an animal one.

Lilly jumped onto the bar, swung slowly and dropped, not into a pit but into a swimming pool.  A cool, big swimming pool with warm, cool water.  Crystals were swimming in the pool.  There were dolphins swimming.  They were as sapphire as a lake.  Suddenly a thundering lightning bolt came into a volcano.  It cracked and then went away (for now).  Then another one came...and another.  Then a mighty thunder bolt came down.  It shook.  Then an explosion came down from the volcano with red, runny lava and black, thick smoke.

A shake came and at once, Lilly knew what it was.  It was a deadly earthquake.  Suddenly a cliff crashed down and chalk scattered.  Rocks full of boiling lava cracked as they landed in the pool.  Suddenly a crack in the swimming pool floor came and all the creatures swam frantically around.  Quietly, Lilly swam away from the lava. It was spreading fast.

Dangerously, the leopard jumped in and put Lilly on her back.  She brought Lilly back to the mirror. She got a hoist but before she could Lilly pushed but it didn't work so the leopard hoisted Lilly in and waved her paw and miaowed, "Good-bye."  Then she felt herself at home.  She was happy and worried, worried because she had burnt herself and happy because she was home.
