Spooky Story by Joe, 5JB

One cold, miserable evening, two boys named Max, who was very courageous, and Lewis, who was very nervous, stumbled over the crooked path that led to an abandoned cottage without realising it, after being waterlogged by a rain cloud that soaked them head to toe.
"I wonder where this weird path leads to," giggled Max, knowing that Lewis was afraid.
"I don't know, but I don't want to find out." Suddenly, Max walked straight into a disintegrating wall.
He then exclaimed, "Woah," after he picked himself up from the floor.  "Is that some sort of cottage?"

Then, out of nowhere, the door swung open with an ear-splitting creak. "I dare you to go in!" they both chanted at the same time.  So, even though it was surprising for Lewis, they both went in.
"What has happened here?!" Lewis yelled, looking at the bloody footprints on the wall and bones on the floor.  Max didn't hear because he was studying the strange book on the mantlepiece.  He went to pick it up.
"Weird. It's called..." he muttered to himself. "If you open this thing the billers will sing and if you come in a scream team you will soon hear a scream."

"Don't open it," Lewis said.
"Don't worry.  It's all pish posh," he said but before he opened it, he noticed the mesmerising colour of the book: purple with gold stripes.  Pretty, he thought, as he opened it.
"Awww, it's blank," he groaned, slamming it loudly shut.  A loud thud sounded suddenly behind him.  He spun around only to see a lifeless Lewis with bleeding ears lying on the floor, dead.  He wondered how a book slamming could kill someone.  It was then Max started hallucinating really bad.  So bad it was like he was dying.  Something warm and wet wrapped around his ankle like a tongue.  It fact...it was a tongue.  He went to the door, trying to pull the tongue off.  It was locked.  Suddenly, the tongue-like thing got hauled rapidly into a basement pulling a screaming Max with it.  A loud burp echoed around the village.
